Carol singers from Belgrave Primary school entertained the residents of Westminster Park at the Christmas lights switch on.

Carol singers from Belgrave Primary school entertained the residents of Westminster Park at the Christmas lights switch on.

Festive celebrations got underway in Westminster Park on Wednesday 2nd December when the Christmas tree lights around the shops were switched on by the Lord Mayor of Chester.

Heralded by Chester’s Town Crier David Mitchell , the Lord Mayor Cllr Hugo Deynem, switched on the lights decorating the Christmas tree provided by Westminster Park Residents’ Association. In his address he paid tribute to the hard work of the volunteers who made the event possible.

Carol singing was led by the Belgrave Primary School choir and local businesses the Al dente deli, Bebbingtons butchers and the Co-operative, provided complimentary mince pies, hot dogs and mulled wine.  M.C. Keith Scott kept residents entertained with seasonal music for the rest of the event.

The festivities were also supported by Councillors Razia Daniels and Neil Sullivan who kindly provided funding for the event from their Members’ budgets.

To round off the fun evening, Santa arrived to deliver goody bags to the children.

Belgrave Primary School

DSCN2164 Belgrave is pleased to announce that we have received our Silver School Games Mark Award for achievement in 2014-15. We are now going for Gold! The additions we have made this school year to be “even better” are the implementation of a Sports Council which has roles in school which include communicating results, taking photographs at events and writing sports reports for the school newsletter. This is also the first year that the school and the local school sports partnership has appointed primary school Sports Ambassadors. Our two Sports Ambassadors have attended training and have come back to school ready to lead the Sports Council
