Play your part – Public consultation closes 5 December

In case you are not already aware, Cheshire West and Chester Council want to hear your views on the challenges and opportunities facing Cheshire West and Chester over the next few years.

  • How could the Council make a difference?
  • How should the Council fund tackling these challenges?
  • How could we and our community play a part?

They want to start a conversation about what the Council’s focus should be for the next four years, how they use their budget and how we may want to get involved.

You can offer your views by going to this website:

https://participatenow.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/play-your-part

The consultation is due to close on 5 December, so there is not much time left to make your views known.

Put the date in your diary – our big Christmas lights switch-on is on Thursday 5th December!

Excitement is rising in Westminster Park as local residents prepare for an evening of festive fun on Thursday 5th December 2019 when their Christmas Lights will be switched on by the Lord Mayor of Chester.

This pre-Christmas treat will include singing by Belgrave Primary School choir, seasonal refreshments supplied by Westminster Park Residents’ Association and local shops, festive music and a visit from you know who!

Starting at 4.45pm with the arrival of the Lord Mayor of Chester, Councillor Councillor Mark Williams, this local event is a family friendly celebration of the start of the festive season. At 5pm the Lord Mayor will count down to the Christmas lights switch-on and then Belgrave Primary School choir will entertain the crowd with a selection of Christmas songs. To complete the exciting evening, Santa will be putting in an appearance to reward youngsters with satsumas and sweets.

During the evening, refreshments will be served with the generous assistance of Westminster Park shops: hotdogs from S.J. Bebbington Butchers, mince pies from the Co-op, prawns from Bebbington & Williams Fishmongers and mulled wine and juice courtesy of Westminster Park Residents’ Association.

This local event would not be able to take place without the amazing support of local councillors Neil Sullivan and Razia Daniels. This year they have not only most generously provided help from their Members’ Budget to purchase a Christmas tree, but have also enabled the local community to buy some new lights for the permanent trees by the Westminster Park shops car park.

Community Centre. Tickets: £4 at the door.

Bar, light refreshments, plant and seed swap.

All WP residents welcome.

Hope to see you on the 9th.
